Cumulative Population Doublings
Growth of HMEC Strain 161 in Medium 171 Supplemented with MEGS
Normal human mammary epithelial cells (HMEC strain 161) were plated in Medium 171 supplemented with MEGS or in the leading competitorâs medium supplemented as recommended by the manufacturer. At each passage the cells were seeded at 2500 cells/cm2 and grown for the indicated time. At the end of each passage, the cells were harvested with trypsin/EDTA, counted using a hemacytometer and the number of population doublings calculated from triplicate cultures. HMEC 161 were the kind gift of Dr. Martha Stampfer to Gary Shipley (see also Li and Shipley, 1991)
