Medium 171 and Mammary Epithelial Growth Supplement
Cascade Biologics is proud to offer a serum-free medium for the growth of normal human mammary epithelial cells (HMEC).
- Medium 171 is a liquid culture medium based on the published formulation of Hammond, Ham and Stampfer (PNAS 81:8435-5439, 1984) with minor modifications (see slide 5 in this presentation). The medium does not contain serum, hormones, growth factors or other such molecules. The entire formulation of Medium 171 is available upon request.
- Mammary Epithelial Growth Supplement (MEGS) is a single addition growth supplement containing bovine pituitary extract, epidermal growth factor, insulin and hydrocortisone. The supplement is based on the published formula (see slide 5 in this presentation).
